Introduction to Company Secretary

Published On : 2015-12-12

In recent past certain corporate incidents have made investors and shareholders rethink before investing in any security due to which corporate bodies have to show more credibility and transparency. Due to the same reason government has also made laws which are more stringent regarding transparency and provide a certain level to safety to investors.

As the management is too busy in day to day work and meeting ever growing competition, so the responsibility to create a credible image of the company and to meet all the legal compliances can be entrusted only to a highly qualified and trained professional known as Company Secretary.

Earlier role of company secretary was limited only to provide support to Board of Directors and managing administrative affairs of an organisation, however in recent past they have to look after corporate governance and legal compliances as well. So now they not only provide assistance to the Board of Directors they are also responsible for statutory compliances. So the demand and jobs for company secretary is not going to decline rather it will be increasing day by day.
